Paul Daniel Miller Sr. (USN, SCPO-Ret.) who was lovingly known as Danny by his family and friends & grumpy by his grandchildren passed away at his home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer at the age of 68. He was born in Tampa, FL on October 30, 1948 to the late Elmira Virginia Stinson Bordelon and Paul Edward Miller. Paul was raised in Chalmette, LA by his grandmother the late Marcus J. Stinson.
Paul joined the US Navy in 1965 at the age of 17 and completed 2 tours in Vietnam (1968 – 1972). He proudly served his country until his retirement in 1988.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Louise Torres Miller; children Tanya Miller Brownell, Paul Daniel Miller Jr. and Lisa Miller Hutcheson; grandchildren Kyle & Carly Brownell, Hallie & Maci Miller, Ray, Samantha & Seth Hutcheson; great granddaughter Alisia Deloach; brother John “Johnny” Edward Miller of MS; half brother Michael J. Miller of GA; half sisters Andrea Miller and Michaela Maddox of GA; cousins Paul Devenport (Sharon), Peggy Devenport White (the late Oliver), Joe Devenport (Bonnie) and Candie Hambrice (Mark); Godson Brett Torres. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many friends. Preceded in death by his brother Marcus J. Miller; granddaughter Vivian Logan Miller and Godson Anthony Frank.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Military Honors will follow. Inurnment will be private.
