Massive undertaking for our students

Once a year, St. Bernard Parish elementary and middle school students that are members of the National Junior BETA Club attend a district day competition.  The event starts at 8:30am and ends with an awards ceremony at 3:00pm.  The BETA Club is comprised of two divisions: division 1 (4-5 grade) and division 2 (6-8 grade).  St. Bernard schools are part of District 12 which also includes schools from Plaquemines, Orleans and parts of Jefferson parish.  Every year students from St. Bernard have to travel outside of the parish to participate.  They have traveled as far as Boothville, Venice.  This year Alisha Capstick and Julie Abadie,  the BETA sponsors at Trist, requested to host District Day at N.P. Trist Middle so that our students would not have to travel far.  With the help of many, Mrs. Capstick and Mrs. Abadie put on a spectacular day of competitions. Mrs. Katherine Lemoine, St. Bernard Parish school board member, kicked of the event with a warm welcome.   Almost 400 students were in attendance.
