17th annual Santa on the Bayou

There were free toys for children, a live Nativity scene, face- painting and more than 1,000 hamburgers and hot dogs served at the annual Santa on the Bayou celebration in eastern St. Bernard Parish on Dec. 10.

It was the 17th year the event was held on the grounds of St. Bernard Catholic Church, one of the oldest churches in Louisiana.

The live Nativity scene was produced and performed in a barn setting to enhance the performance.

Santa thanks the contributors who made this celebration possible for the children–Valero Refinery and Company, Valero Employees, Biloxi Marsh Land Corporation, Crewboats, LLC, Pat & Claire Pescay, Emile Pellittieri, Eslava and Associates, Poydras Hardware, Guillory’s Green Store, Patsy Romero, the volunteer parishioners from St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Los Islenos Heritage and Cultural Society, and Lynn Oaks School.
