Decorator donates event’s carpet to local Habitat for Humanity Tuesday Morning
(New Orleans, La.) – NOLA ChristmasFest 2016 wrapped up another successful year attracting tens of thousands of families to the seasonal event at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center, but the annual indoor Christmas festival continues to spread holiday cheer with a generous donation of carpet left over from the 15-day event to the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity.
The New Orleans Convention Center and Freeman Decorating plan to begin removing carpet this morning from Hall I at the Convention Center and donating 161,874 square feet of plush carpeting to Habitat’s ReStore outlets. The red and gray carpet, which totals nearly 18,000 square yards, will be distributed in New Orleans, Covington and Baton Rouge and will be a source of revenue for the nonprofit organization that enables home buying for people in the community.
“Carpet centers a room, the same way that homeownership anchors a community. Donations from Freeman, such as this NOLA ChristmasFest carpet, are the reason New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity can continue to provide life-changing homeownership opportunities to the working families of New Orleans,“ said Marguerite Oestreicher, Chief Advancement Officer New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity.
The work begins at 7 am Tuesday, January 3, with scheduled pick up at 9 am. Diane Lyons, NOLA ChristmasFest spokesperson, is thrilled with Freeman’s generous donation. “So many wonderful Christmas memories were created on this carpeting by families who attended this year’s event. It’s heart-warming to know that it will continue to bring joy to those who can use the carpet.”
