Lijia Del Carmen Gomez passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the age of 58. Beloved daughter of Candida Rosa Gonzalez and the late Jose Enrique Gomez. Loving mother of Xiomara Gomez McKinnies (Donald McKinnies Jr.). Sister of Manuel Berrios, AnaAdela Gonzalez, Jose Enrique Gomez, Marlene “Maya” Petrie, Sandra Gomez Gonzalez, Dominga Gomez, Violeta Ortiz and Ervin Gomez. Proud grandmother of Donald McKinnies III, Dalilah Michelle McKinnies and Donovan McKinnies. Devoted aunt of Rebecca Ortiz and Omar Ortiz. Survived by 43 nieces and nephews.
Lijia was born on May 5, 1958 in Managua, Nicaragua and has been a resident of Louisiana for 40 years. She was free spirited social butterfly who lit up the room and never met a stranger. Lijia enjoyed living life to its fullest and always enjoyed a good cup of coffee. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends.
