The St. Bernard Wetlands Foundation invites the public to attend an Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at the 40 Arpent Wetlands Observatory located at 8265 Benjamin Street in Chalmette.

Annually, Arbor Day Celebrations are held throughout the United States in April. Members of the St. Bernard Wetlands Foundation will plant a live oak tree on the grounds of the Observatory. Brochures with information about the value of trees, tree planting instructions, as well as types of trees recommended for planting in urban settings will be available.

The St. Bernard Wetlands Foundation, Inc. gratefully acknowledges that this event is made possible through a grant from the Exxon-Mobil Fund. In case of inclement weather, Tuesday, April 11th will be substituted as a “rain day.”

Directions to the 40 Arpent Observatory: Drive north on Jean Lafitte Parkway toward the 40 Arpent Canal. Make a U-turn and then turn right on Benjamin Street. Drive two blocks and then continue on a gravel road until you reach the Observatory.
