CHS Voices shined at Glitter and Gloves

Chalmette High School Voices chorus presented Glitter and Gloves last week which was sponsored by the Chalmette Cultural Arts Foundation and the Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation.

Chalmette High School Voices chorus presented Glitter and Gloves recently. Sponsored by the Chalmette Cultural Arts Foundation and the Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation, this year’s annual gala focused on the theme “Across the Times” and included numbers from shows like Hamilton and Newsies.

Many of the numbers had a historical theme and showcased a wide-range of student talent.

Artistic Director Arianna Cassar said several group numbers were selected and each featured a diverse assortment of student talent.

Cassar said her favorite number in the show was “A Musical.”

“I was able to design it like a ‘large inside joke’ to the theater community while still utilizing a great deal of glitz, glam, and grand musical theater style,” Cassar said. “I also loved meshing all of the different types of dancing and singing styles and various theatre references into one large, fabulous group number.”

Cassar, who graduated from CHS in 2008 and has been working with CHS Voice performers since 2010, also recently announced this summer’s Performing Arts Academy show – The Little Mermaid. Last year’s sold out show of Beauty and the Beast was a hit with audiences of all ages, and this year’s promises to be just as exciting.

Students in the St. Bernard Parish public school system and alumni who are interested in joining the cast can find more information regarding auditions on the St. Bernard Parish
district website.
