Roy Louis Manalla Sr. passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Lois Fanz Manalla for 39 years. His final days were surrounded by his cherished family. Loving father of Cindy Manalla Schulz, Rosalind Manalla Lamarque and Roy “Whip” Manalla Jr. Son of the late Nathan Manalla and Norma Majesty Manalla. Brother of the late Nat Manalla, Helen Savarino, Dorothy “Dot” O’Rouke, Ethel Jordan, Muriel O’Rouke and Hazel Leefe. Proud grandfather of Nicole Manalla Lafrance (Cliff), Nathan Manalla (Cheramie), Neal Manalla, Monique Schulz Cure (Billy), Grant Schulz (Shannon) and Brittany Lamarque McDaniel (Kenny). Great grandfather of Hannah Lafrance, Alec Lafrance, Ashton Lafrance, Ella Lafrance, Cameron Cure, Colin “Whitey” Cure, Grant “Turk” Schulz, Gavin Schulz, Landon McDaniel, Cecilia Manalla, Kayla Manalla, Mya Manalla and arriving in September 2017, Gunnar Roy Schulz. Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Roy was born on January 7, 1928 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. His smile, his hugs, his sense of humor and unconditional love will forever live on in our hearts. He will always be remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
