Adult Education registration at Nunez Community College offered in August

Classes Begin August 25 for High School Equivalency Students

In addition to the associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs offered, Nunez Community College also offers adult education classes for those who need to complete a high school equivalency credential. The St. Bernard Adult Education Program is offered on Nunez’s campus in Chalmette. Referred to as “Work Ready U” by the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS), the adult education program at Nunez allows for a seamless transition into college for graduates of the program.

“Our goal is to help people earn their high school equivalency and set them up for future success,” said Pat Pourciau, director of the St. Bernard Adult Education Program/Work Ready U. “We have opportunities
for adult education students to begin working toward a certificate at Nunez while completing their high school education. We also encourage them to continue their studies once we get them on campus,” she continued.

Traditional classroom instruction and online learning are available. Registration and testing for the next adult education classroom-based session will be offered on Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22, at 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. both days. Prospective adult education students must attend registration and testing. Adult education classes begin August 25. Registration dates for students interested in taking online adult education classes are Monday, August 21 through Wednesday, August 23.

“As a community college we serve many types of students and our doors are open to everyone. Our mission is to help all students improve their lives through a Nunez education which includes adult learners as well as our more traditional students,” commented Tommy Warner, chancellor of Nunez Community College.
