James Casper Mills, Jr.

James Casper Mills Jr. passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Dolores Brinker for 64 years. Loving father of Janis Mills Lamanette (Ronald) and James C. Mills III, M.D. (Kim). Son of the late James Casper Mills Sr. and Miriam Siebrandt Mills. Brother of Audrey M. Wild and the late Miriam M. Riche. Proud grandfather of Melissa L. Boos (Jason), James C. Mills IV and Christopher J. Mills. Great grandfather of Mason J. Boos and Madison A. Boos. Also survived and fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.

James was born on February 17, 1930 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish.  Since 2007 he has resided in Madisonville, LA. James was a proud United States Navy Reserve veteran and was honorably discharged after eight years of service. He was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for 25 years and served as President for over 5 years. James was a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion honoring his devotion of time and talent to the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. He will be forever remembered as a great man who was devoted to his family and faith. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2820 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A funeral Mass began at 1:00 p.m. He was laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
