Leonard “Sonny” E. Fountain Jr., a veteran of the U.S. Navy who proudly served his country, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of Jeanette McCoy Fountain. Loving father of Christopher Fountain (Leslie), Sharon Fountain and Tony Meyers. Son of the late Leonard Fountain Sr. and Lola Hess Fountain. Proud grandfather of C.J. Fountain (Danielle), Murphy Acosta and Caroline Boudreaux. Great grandfather of Carter Fountain. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Lenny was born in Big Bend, LA and a current resident of Bogalusa, LA. He truly enjoyed life through his simple pleasures of fishing, hunting, boating, gardening and other activities that kept him close to family and friends. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend of many, who loved his country and treasured his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service in Lenny’s memory beginning at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
