East Winds push tidal water over highways in Eastern St. Bernard

East winds have pushed tidal waters over Florissant Highway and parts of Yscloskey Highway.  Water has begun crossing LA300 in areas of Reggio and Woodlake. Tides are currently more than three (3) feet above normal.  East winds are expected to continue through Tuesday.

A rollover rock damn will be constructed on Florissant Highway by 1:00 p.m. to slow rising tidal water. Highways markers are being placed along flooded roadways. Water is expected to continue to rise in Eastern St. Bernard Parish.  Parish President Guy McInnis and other Parish Officials will continue to monitor the rising water in the Yscloskey and Delacroix Island areas to ensure that the roads are safe and passable.
