Nunez Pelicans Baseball wraps-up fall season this week with double-header on Thursday and Pelicanpalooza on Saturday

The Nunez Community College Pelicans baseball team wraps-up its fall season this week with games on Thursday, October 19 and Saturday, October 21 at Chalmette High School. Thursday will be a double-header against Mississippi’s Holmes Community College with games beginning at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

As a part of Nunez’s participation in NJCAA Day, Nunez’s baseball coaches, all of whom are volunteers, will be recognized on the mound at the start of the first game.

The first pitch of the second game on Thursday will be thrown out by Dr. Bryan Frichter, the St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame’s president, and will be caught by Dominic Curole, a Nunez athlete, who received the hall of fame’s 2017 Amateur Athlete of the Year Award. The St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame is also a sponsor of the baseball team for the 2017 – 2018 season.

Saturday’s game starts at 11:00 a.m. and is an inter-squad scrimmage where all Nunez Pelicans players will have the opportunity to take the field. In addition to the game on Saturday, the Office of Student Affairs from Nunez Community College will be hosting Pelicanpalooza from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., also at Chalmette High School.
