Anthony Lopez Sr. passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucille Evans Lopez. Loving father of Anthony Lopez Jr., Sharon Molero, Donna Lopez and the late Manuel Lopez and Todd Jude Lopez. Son of the late Joseph and Bertha Gonzales Lopez. Brother of Henry Lopez, Philip Lopez, Isabell Morales and the late Felice Melerine, Delores Melerine, Joseph Lopez and Frank Lopez Sr. Proud grandfather of Scotty Lopez, Anthony Scott Lopez, Ashton Lopez, David Guy, Stacy Molero Jr., Kristen Lopez, Brad Lopez, Bubby Lopez Jr., Stephen Lopez, Brandy Eddings and the late Mallory Lopez. He is also survived and fondly remembered by his 14 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Anthony was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and enjoyed a long career as a commercial fisherman, trapping, and fishing, along with his work with Dean’s Elevating Boats. His love for the New Orleans Saints was surpassed only by his love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was our pillar of courage and strength, a wonderful father, and a wonderful example of what it means to care for others. He was well-loved and will be deeply missed by us all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service in Anthony’s memory beginning at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Lucille in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
