Small Business Saturday Festivities Begin in St. Bernard with Breakfast Kick Off at Café Aquarius

Small Business Saturday, a national shopping holiday on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, will take place on November 25, 2017.  When you opt to shop local, you are choosing to support local jobs, celebrating the local fabric of the community, and ultimately retaining more money in the local economy.

St. Bernard Parish is celebrating their local businesses with a week-long Shop Small campaign. Festivities begin with a Small Business Saturday Breakfast Kick Off at Café Aquarius in Chalmette.  Shoppers are invited to grab a coffee and pastry, meet friends for brunch, and enjoy a complimentary mimosa from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Business community leaders will also be handing out Shop Small swag bags with coupons for local stores, a list of participating businesses, and St. Bernard Shop Small Passports.  Shoppers who fill out their St. Bernard Shop Small Passport can enter for a chance to win a $200 American Express gift card.  Shoppers have from Saturday, November 25, 2017, through Sunday, December 3, 2017, to complete their passport and drop it off at Café Aquarius.  The deadline to enter is Sunday, December 3 at 2:00 pm.

St. Bernard Shop Small participants include retailers, restaurants, pharmacies, fitness centers, and a variety of specialty stores.  A complete list and passport details can be found at sbedf.org/shopsmall2017.

The event is sponsored by the St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation, the St. Bernard Chamber, and St. Bernard Tourism.

ABOUT SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY

Saturday, November 25, 2017, is Small Business Saturday® – a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. First observed in the United States on November 27, 2010, it is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big box retail and e-commerce stores respectively. By contrast, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local. Small Business Saturday is a registered trademark of American Express Corporation.
