CHS cheerleaders place first at Regional Competition

CHS Cheerleaders placed first at the UCA Regionals Cheer Competition, claiming the title of regional champions and a bid to compete nationally in Orlando, FL this February.

The Chalmette High School cheerleaders recently competed in Hammond, LA at the UCA Regionals Cheer Competition. The team placed first, claiming the title of regional champions and a bid to compete nationally in Orlando, FL this February.

Head coach Alexis Duque said she is incredibly proud of the team and all that they have accomplished and looks forward to the next stage of the competition.

“The CHS cheerleaders have overcome many obstacles this year in being given a new coach and dealing with multiple injuries,” Duque said. “Through it all, they have come together to show what true dedication and commitment looks like. I could not be more proud of the girls and their accomplishments. We have come so far and I cannot wait to see how far we go!”

Team members are seniors Emily Lion, Alyssa Gould, Alix Licciardi, Angelica Lovell, Alexis Encardes, and Gabrielle Ducote; juniors Tori Sullivan, Courtney Blanchard, Abigale Licciardi, Diana Willoz, Elaina Morgan, and Baylie Blanchard; sophomores Alexis Resendez, Kaitlyn Lena, Crista Basile, Leah Abadie, Katie Jovell, Rebecca Joachim, and Meredith Hocks; and freshmen Brooke Brandt, Natalie Parada, Kiera Sylve, Alyssa Hummel, and Chloe Bordelon.
