St. Bernard Transit began limited service to Fanz Mobile Home Estates in eastern St. Bernard on December 4th. “Fanz Mobile Home Estates is our parish’s easternmost pickup zone for hurricane evacuation and we are studying the viability of having limited bus service at that location,” said Michael Bayham, St. Bernard Transit Department Manager.
The site is located approximately three miles east of the end of the transit route, which terminates at Sugar Mill Drive in Poydras. “We are trying to expand our transit service within St. Bernard Parish without disrupting the bus schedule, which was reset to hourly intervals earlier this year,” said Bayham. The new schedule and route have resulted in a significant increase in St. Bernard Transit ridership in 2017.
The four pick up and drop off times at Fanz Mobile Home Estates are 7:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. For more information contact St. Bernard Transit at (504) 277-1907.
