Danny Dale Duke

Danny Dale Duke passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at the age of 58. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his very memorable life. He was the beloved husband of James H. Amerson Jr. Loving father of Melanie D. Duke and Kathleen E. Duke. Son of the late Willard and Anne Dunlap Duke. Son-in-law of James H. Amerson Sr. and the late Georgia M. Amerson. Brother of Debbie D. Soler, Duane D. Duke, Darrell D. Duke and Dana D. Duke. Brother-in-law of Jan Roper and the late Jacob M. Amerson. Proud grandfather of Jonah Constantino, Caleb Zelaya, and Emily Zelaya. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Danny was born in Jacksonville, FL and was raised in the New Orleans area where he enjoyed a career as a Speech Therapist at Chalmette Middle School and a Special Education Administrator with the International School of Louisiana. Danny truly enjoyed life through his beautiful gardening for himself and others. He found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for his friends, family and the children he helped. Danny will always be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to his family, his caring and loving spirit and his laughter. He was our pillar of courage and strength and a wonderful example of what it means to care for others.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, January 2, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, followed by a eulogy in his memory beginning at noon. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
