Claudia Kivell Smith passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the age of 80. Beloved wife of Larry Smith Sr. for 61 years. Loving mother of Deborah S. Turgeau (Steven), Brenda S. Schiro (Mark), Milton R. Smith Sr. (Diane) and the late Larry Smith Jr. Daughter of the late Milton Kivell and Maggie Banner Kivell. Sister of Elaine Kivell and the late Milton Kivell Sr., Frederick Kivell, Lawrence Kivell Banner, Elsie Kivell Eber, Richard Kivell and Mildred Kivell Stouff. Proud grandmother of Mark Schiro Jr. (Jennifer), Chantel Schiro, Joshua Turgeau and Milton R. Smith Jr. Great-grandmother of Brenee Callais, Dylan Callais, Peyton Velazquez and Ethan Turgeau.
Claudia was born on February 13, 1937, in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, January 26, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service began at 1:00 p.m. She was laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
