Kathryn Ann Nizer

Kathryn Ann Nizer passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, CO on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the age of 90. She was born on May 10, 1927, to William Thomas Nizer of Baltimore, MD and Imelda Kenner Nizer of New Orleans, LA. She was a native New Orleanian who attended St. Anthony of Padua Grammar School, Ursuline Academy High School, Southwestern University in Lafayette and she obtained her Masters in Social Work from Tulane University. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Kathryn was a dedicated employee of the State of Louisiana as the Medical Social Consultant for the Handicapped Children’s Clinics until her retirement. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Raphael Catholic Church and was an active member of the St. Bernard Business and Professional Women’s Club until her relocation to Colorado Springs after Hurricane Katrina.

Known as “Aunt Kathryn” she had an influential impact on her numerous “nieces and nephews” and cousins. We would like to thank our cousins in Colorado Springs; Douglas & Karen Murray Jr., Mike & Colleen Murray, Doran & Lisa Snider, Douglas J. Murray and the late Cathy Jane Enright Murray for looking after “Aunt Kathryn”. She was preceded in death by her parents and her longtime friend William M. Justice Jr. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A funeral service began at 10:00 a.m. She was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
