Wallace Steven Maitrejean

Wallace Steven Maitrejean passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor Kassum Maitrejean for 52 years. Loving father of Angela Copping (Craig), Eleanora Pitre (James), Susan Kottemann (Eric), Elizabeth Blancher (Albert) and Mark Maitrejean (Lisa). Son of the late John Baldwin Maitrejean and Eleanora Demots Maitrejean. Brother of Eugene Maitrejean (the late Doris) and the late Shirley Walsh (Edmund), John Maitrejean (Shirley), Joseph Maitrejean (Ruth) and Justin Maitrejean (Earlene). Proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Wallace was born on January 26, 1937, in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was a dedicated draftsman for NOPSI / Entergy Corporation, where he received “Employee of the Year”, and retired after 25 years of service. He was a former treasurer of Riverland Credit Union and Marksmen at St. Marks Catholic Church. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. A funeral Mass began at noon. Monsignor Robert Massett will officiate. He was laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
