Eva Bordelon Gaspard

Eva Bordelon Gaspard passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the age of 92. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her life. She was the cherished wife of the late Norbert J. Gaspard Sr. Daughter of the late Joseph Dila “BooBoo” and Aline Johnson Bordelon. Loving mother of Diane Elder (the late Michael Elder), Aline Ranatza (Pascal Ranatza), Ronald Gaspard (Patricia Gaspard), Elizabeth Wolfarth, Andrew Gaspard (Connie Gaspard) and the late Norbert J. Gaspard Jr. Proud grandmother of Dwayne Drewes, Cherie Silas, Dawn Elder, Chrissie Mayer, Kevin Gaspard, Stefanie Autin, Ryan Walther, Eric Wolfarth, Jennifer Fourcade and Amanda Fox. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Eva was born in Bordelonville, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where she enjoyed a long career with our local McDonalds. Following Hurricane Katrina, Eva settled in Mandeville, LA with her family where she continued to enjoy reading, playing cards (cheating only when it was necessary), spoiling the grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed her trips to the casino.

She was well loved and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. She taught us the importance of family bonds and loyal friends. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation held at Our Lady Of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Rd, Chalmette, LA on Friday, February 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to noon, followed by a funeral Mass in Eva’s memory that began at noon. She was laid to rest with her beloved husband and son in Greenwood Cemetery. To view and sign the family guestbook, please visit www.stbernardmemorial.com.
