Ethel Messmer Kattengell

Ethel Messmer Kattengell born in New Orleans on November 30, 1927, she passed away peacefully at Colonial Oaks Living Center on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. She was 90. Beloved wife of the late Walter F. Kattengell, Jr. for 60 years. Mother of Linda Templet (Robert) and Donald Kattengell (Dorothy). Proud Grandmother of grandsons Jason Templet (Sarah), Justin Templet, Jared Kattengell, (Fiance’ Megan) and Mitchell Kattengell. Great-grandmother of Walter Scott Templet. Daughter of the late Alice Wyman Messmer and Carl Messmer. Sister of the late Veronica Unger, Alice Robin, Marion Lora, Yvonne Muhoberac, Dolores Herron, and Lorraine Kennedy. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Born in New Orleans, Mrs. Kattengell has been a resident of St. Bernard Parish for the past 58 years. She was a founding member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Arabi, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd; New Orleans, LA. on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass in the Chapel. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. The family hosted a reception in the Boulevard Room of Greenwood Funeral Home following the graveside service. Sincere appreciation to Dr. April Fox, other physicians, and staff of Uptown Nephrology. Also thanks to nurses Nancy Price Borne and Terrell Evans for their loving care and support.
