“Annie”comes to visit Nunez Community College in March

Over 50 children and adults and even 1 dog were cast at the conclusion of auditions recently held for the March production of ANNIE, running Thursday, March 15 through Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Nunez Community College Theater in Chalmette.  The Company of St. Bernard is producing this well-known, beloved musical inspired by the comic strip adventures of Little Orphan Annie, and Mary Collins is directing and will also serve as choreographer.  Roxanne Gray will be serving as musical director for this upcoming production.

The musical ANNIE originated on Broadway in 1977 to rave reviews and has been an integral part of the international musical landscape ever since, with its signature tunes “It’s A Hard Knock Life” and “Tomorrow” entrenched among the best-known musical theater numbers of the past 40 years.

At the auditions held January 23-25, 2018 at Nunez Community College, all of the talented citizens auditioning for roles were quite happy to demonstrate their vocal and dancing abilities.  The upcoming audiences should be delighted with the results of all the hard work that will go into this production over the next 5 weeks.  “We are thrilled to be bringing to St. Bernard audiences this classic musical that appeals to all ages,” said director/choreographer Mary Collins.

Performances of the musical begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 15; Friday, March 16; and Saturday, March 17, 2018, with a Sunday matinee on March 18 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
