St. Bernard Schools seeking passionate, driven teachers

The St. Bernard Parish School District has recently released the Program Application for Teach St. Bernard – an alternative certification program for recent college graduates and career changers looking to teach in high-needs subjects in the school district. Unlike traditional teacher licensure programs, Teach St. Bernard provides a path to becoming a teacher in the district through a high quality, no out-of-pocket cost program making it easier for candidates to make an impact while making an income.

Acceptance to the program is highly selective and based on the school district’s vacancies and need. To apply to the program, candidates must be college graduates who hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher as evidenced by an official transcript, and candidates must have passing scores on PRAXIS I (or equivalent ACT/SAT score) and PRAXIS II (content knowledge) for the designated area in which the teacher will be teaching.

Candidates need to be interested in teaching one of the following: Secondary Math, Science, English, Business, or Special Education; Elementary Special Education.
