Lawrence Francis Lohr, Sr.

Lawrence Francis Lohr Sr., 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother in law and uncle, and friend to everyone he had the joy to greet passed away suddenly in his home, on Saturday, February 10, 2018.

Born July 27, 1929, in New Orleans, Larry Lohr graduated from Holy Cross High School and was a longtime resident of Chalmette. He attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church, serving as an usher for the 8 AM mass for many years, and was a 2-term president of the Princemen’s Club. He was especially proud of organizing the cabbage ball youth league and thoroughly enjoyed his time on the cooking committee. With his quick smile and love for people, and his uncanny ability to remember names, Larry was known to many over his 45-year career as salesman extraordinaire at Porter Stevens, helping to make New Orleans a city of snappy dressers. Larry loved watching football, going out for a good meal, playing cards with his dear friends, and racing around on his spiffy blue 3-wheel bike. But nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his kids and grandkids and enjoying absolutely anything that Pat cooked. He had a blessed life.

Survived and fondly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Sobell Lohr; daughters, Brenda Bell (Robert), and Linda Lachin, and son Lawrence Jr.; grandchildren Mathew, Andrew and Jeffrey Lachin, Kristen, Lawrence III (Trey) and Kelsy Lohr, Tyler and Grady Bell. Also survived by sister-in-law Jeanette Martin Lohr and niece and nephew Janet and Ronnie Lohr. Predeceased by his father and mother, Edwin and Josephine Olsen Lohr and brother Edwin Lohr.
