Bernadine Strikmiller Tarifa Wagner

Bernadine Strikmiller Tarifa Wagner entered into her eternal rest, after a brief illness, on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the age of 99. “Bernie”, as she was affectionately known, was the beloved wife of the late Rudy Wagner, having been formerly widowed by the sudden death of Frank J. Tarifa. She was the loving mother to her children Dorothy Tardy, Robert Tarifa Frank Tarifa and Linda Tindell.

She is survived by her brother, Warren Strikmiller. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, with an infant grandson lost at birth, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild with another soon expected. She is further survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Eva and Seymour Strikmiller, and siblings Alice Strikmiller, Violet Doane, Exzilda (Sue) Impastato, Leslie Strikmiller, and Dorothy Kramer. She enjoyed a long tenure at A & A Spice Company where she worked and was loved and always remembered by the Caneza family, and was also a very active Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack #8 for several years. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff and volunteers at the Riverbend Nursing Home in Belle Chasse, the staff of the 4th-floor nursing station at Ochsner Hospital Westbank, and to Ms. Cathy Green and staff of Ochsner Westbank Hospice for their tender and loving care of our beloved Bernie. Bernie was a long-time member of First English Lutheran Church in Metairie. She will be sorely missed by everyone, but we know

that she is in the loving arms of God. Relatives, friends, former associates at A & A Spice Company, and members of First English Lutheran Church, especially her dear friend, Myrtle Suprean, are invited to attend the funeral service at First English Lutheran Church, 370l Cleary Avenue, Metairie, LA on Friday, March 2, 2018, at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in St. Roch Cemetery No. 1, New Orleans, LA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to First English Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
