Albert Edward Guillemet

Albert Edward Guillemet, age 93, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Chalmette, LA for the past 27 years, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. Beloved husband of Bertha S. Guillemet. Father of Carolyn G. Azarraga (Leo) of Athens, GA, Bruce M. Arsenaux (Cindy) of Slidell, LA and Dianne A. Fie1ds (Craig) of Covington, LA. Grandfather of Allyson A. Swedbergh, Jason Azarraga, Bradley M. Arsenaux, Jennifer A. Foley (Adam), Matthew C. Fields and Christine A. Fields. Great Grandfather of Addison Claire Foley and Layla Coley.  Also survived by sister-in-law Ruth F. Guillemet, nieces, nephews and many dear friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raoul L. and Elise Ferchaud Guillemet, and siblings Ralph Guillemet, Vera Guillemet, Clarice G. Faunce and Melvin G. Payne.

He proudly served in the United States Army, serving in the 1394 Engineer Construction Battalion on Guadalcanal and Cebu, in the Philippine Islands.

He was a retired member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local # 11, Past President and member of the Crescent City Campers Club; Past Commander of V.F.W. Post 10666; Past Commander, American Legion Post 425, Past Commander & Life Member of the D.A.V. and Member of the United States Military Order of the Cooties.

He enjoyed traveling all through the United States, Canada, and Mexico, loved the majesty of the Grand Canyon, was a frequent visitor to area casinos and loved spending time with family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m.  He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
