St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrest couple for distribution of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, stolen handgun

Crack cocaine, marijuana, and two handguns, one of which was reported stolen, were recovered after a deputy conducted a traffic stop.

A New Orleans woman and a Mississippi man were arrested Feb. 23 in Arabi and crack cocaine, marijuana, and two handguns, one of which was reported stolen, were recovered after a deputy conducted a traffic stop on them for a speeding violation, St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Tiffany Brooks, 30, of the 1800 block of Gordon Street, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and two warrants out of the New Orleans Police Department.

Drew Clark, 33, of the 1500 block of Eastward Drive in Gulfport, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a speed law violation and two warrants out of the NOPD.

On Feb. 23, shortly after 9 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, an agent with the Special Investigations Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, westbound along Judge Perez Drive in Arabi near Rowley Boulevard.    

During the traffic stop, the agent noticed a strong aroma of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. Following a search of the vehicle, agents recovered two clear plastic bags containing marijuana, one clear plastic bag containing two smaller clear plastic bags containing crack cocaine, one clear plastic bag containing 11 smaller clear plastic bags containing crack cocaine, and two handguns, one of which was reported stolen out of the Gulfport Police Department in Mississippi.

Brooks and Clark were both transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked. Brooks was released Feb. 27 on a $5,000 bond; Clark is being held in lieu of a $40,000 bond.
