St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrest three for distribution of marijuana, recover two stolen handguns following traffic stop

Two Chalmette men and a man from Kenner were arrested Feb. 8 in Chalmette and marijuana and two stolen handguns were recovered after a deputy conducted a stop for traffic violations, St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Justin Pierce, 19, of the 3500 block of Jupiter Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, suspended driver’s license, speed law violation, and turn signal required.

Tyrik Scott, 18, of the 8500 block of Deerfield Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Darius Williams, 21, of the 2400 block of Acorn Street in Kenner, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a municipal attachment out of the New Orleans Police Department.

On Feb. 8 shortly before 11:30 a.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, an agent with the Special Investigations Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling through Chalmette at a high rate of speed and turning without signaling by hand or lamps.

During the traffic stop, the agent noticed a strong aroma of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. Following a search of the vehicle, agents recovered four, large clear plastic bags containing nearly 7 ounces of marijuana, a digital scale, ammunition, and two handguns, one reported stolen out of the New Orleans Police Department and the other out of the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office.

All three subjects were transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked. Pierce was released Feb. 9 on a $30,000 bond; Scott was released Feb. 22 on a $30,000 bond; and Williams is being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
