On Saturday, April 21, the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Lourdes Council No. 8442 will host the second annual Our Lady of Lourdes Crawfish Cook-off, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Violet. This year will also feature an antique car display by the St. Bernard Rod Knockers.
The cost for a team of 6 to enter the cook-off is $350. Each team will be provided with 200 pounds of crawfish and must purchase all other supplies. Teams will be judged in four categories: crawfish, potatoes, corn, and lagniappe. Awards will be given for each category as well as for an overall winner. Admission to the event begins at noon and is $25 per person for all the crawfish you can eat. Person 10 and under are free. Hamburgers will also be available.
The proceeds from the event will go towards the various charities supported by the Knights of Columbus, including scholarships, the Special Olympics, Thanksgiving baskets, and Catholic organizations including Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
