Clinton Joseph Boynes, Jr.

Clinton Joseph Boynes, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of MaryLee Cheramie Boynes. They shared a wonderful 54 years of marriage. Clinton was born on March 19, 1943, in New Orleans to the late Clinton, Sr. and Alberta Schmit Boynes. He was a resident of Mandeville, LA but spent the majority of his life in St. Bernard Parish. He was the loving father of Cheramie Boynes Kerth (Kenny), Angela Boynes Bertheaud (Rene), and Clinton Joseph Boynes, III (Tara). Brother of Diane Boynes Bourgeois (Charles, Sr.) and David Boynes (Cindy). Proud grandfather of Nicholas Kerth, Bailey Bertheaud, Lane Bertheaud, Madison Kerth, Renae Bertheaud, Savannah Boynes and Hunter Boynes. He loved his pets Star and Friday. Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Clinton graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in New Orleans. He worked as a Crane Operator/Longshoreman for Cooper/T. Smith and Sons where he retired after 30 years. He was best known as “Chopsley” on the river. Clinton enjoyed hunting, fishing, Mardi Gras with family and attending mixed league ballgames at Val Riess park as the “Maggots Manager”. He truly enjoyed playing his trumpet and earned medals for his talent. We will always remember his one-liners because he had a way with words! His sweet spirit was contagious to all those who knew him. A true Chalmation – he often patronized his favorite establishments Rocky and Carlo’s as well as Herbie and Johnny’s.

Our family would like to thank all friends and family who reached out to us and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, April 20, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon followed by a Funeral Mass at noon. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
