American Cancer Society and St. Bernard Parish lead the fight for a world without cancer through Relay For Life event

On April 21, hundreds of participants will join together at the annual Relay For Life of St. Bernard Parish at Val Reiss Sports Complex to help the American Cancer Society attack cancer from every angle. The event starts at 2:00 p.m.

Josie Dietz, Volunteer Event Lead added, “We strive every year to get the word out to the public about what the American Cancer Society has to offer. There are people who care about you and are ready to help you and your loved ones facing cancer. In this position for the past two years as Event Lead, I am learning that not everyone knows the American Cancer Society has resources out there to support them. My goal is to get the word out. My passion is to help those who need the help. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer one way or another. Come out on April 21st at Val Riess Park and see what we are all about. Be part of the progress in helping our community.”

The American Cancer Society is the cause fighting cancer on every front; standing shoulder to shoulder with cancer patients and those supporting them. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploy activists to raise awareness.

Founded by Dr. Gordy Klatt in Washington in 1985, the Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. Symbolizing the battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer, the event can last up to 24 hours and empowers communities to take a stand against cancer.

In addition to the support of the community, Relay For Life of St. Bernard Parish is also supported by many local businesses and organizations. This year’s sponsors include The Meraux Foundation, Walmart, Domino Sugar, Chalmette Refining, and Praline Connection.

Together, we can beat our biggest rival. Join or donate to the Relay For Life of St. Bernard Parish. Visit RelayForLife.org or http://www.relayforlife.org/stbernardla.
