Gregory Joseph May, Sr. passed away at his residence on Monday, April 23, 2018, at the age of 72. He was the beloved husband of the late Joann Nava May. Son of Mary Lubrano May and the late Curtis May. He leaves behind his loving children, Gwen May Duhy (Greg), Patricia May Pedreira (Joseph), Gina May Aucoin (Lenny), Gregory J. May, Jr. and Jonathan J. Ducote. Brother of Sylvia Voss (Harold), Maryann Reed (Jim), Elise Andrews (Clay) and Curtis May (the late Glenda). He is also survived and fondly remembered by his 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Gregory proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Insulators Local 53 and the American Legion. He truly enjoyed life by spending time with his friends and family. He loved horse racing, needed at least one good laugh every day and his love for a cold Heineken was surpassed only by his love for his grandchildren. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal son, father, grandfather, brother and a friend of many, who loved his country and treasured his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at Bride Adorned Church (abrideadornedchurch.org) 1000 Caruso Blvd., Slidell, LA on Monday, May 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of Gregory’s life beginning at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Dr., Slidell, LA beginning at 12:30 p.m. To view and sign the family guestbook, please visit www.stbernardmemorial.com.
