Shirley Callico Schaeffer entered eternal life on May 1, 2018, while surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Leo A. Schaeffer Jr.; her father and step-mother Pascal and Leona Callico; her sister and brother-in-law Gloria and Jimmy Conrad; and her brother Frank Callico.
Loving mother of Charmaine and Eric Vosbein; Leo Schaeffer III; Debralee and Keith Wolfe, and Darren Schaeffer. Sister and brother-in-law Violette and George Stutts. Cousin of Marlene Heintz. Proud grandmother of Melissa (Ray), Leo IV (Brittany), Mary Ann, Keith Jr. (Raven), and Marissa (Nick). Great-grandmother of Bret, Blake, Madison, Serena, Carys, Cheyanne, Gabrielle, Ray, Lauren, Destiny, Cruz, Carson, Corbin and soon to arrive, Kayleigh.
Shirley was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Pearl River, LA following Hurricane Katrina. She loved traveling to Alaska, where she and Leo were married. Her love of Disney World and cruises was surpassed only by her love of shopping and spoiling her grandkids. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend of many, who treasured her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, May 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass in Shirley’s memory beginning at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
