Spanning June 9th and 10th, with the sun shining bright and the heat pouring out, with periodic threats of thunderstorms lurking in the clouds, seventeen teams from across Louisiana gathered for the boys 8U state baseball tournament and prepared for battle. This competition was held on the grounds of the Slidell Bantam Baseball Association fields, in Slidell, Louisiana. Many victories were won and lost throughout this two-day event between our youth. Many friendships were formed and even more were fortified. The vibe of teamwork and coming together to achieve a common goal of victory and sportsmanship was present. Many boys gave it their all. Some were victorious, for others, it just wasn’t their day. After pursuing their goals, and reflecting back on their basic training, and applying their fundamentals of baseball, your St. Bernard boys 8U All-star baseball team earned the title of 8U Baseball State Champions!
Included in this team lead by Head Coach Craig Schubert, and his assistant coaches Lane Johnston, Chris Gonzales, Shaun Jones, and Jonathan Bartholomew were players: Bryce Hingle #1, Anthony C. Amadeo III #3, Julien Labruzzo #4, Lane Johnston #5, Jackson Westerfield #6, Michael Mosley #8, Jackson Gonzales #9, Nick LeBlanc #10, Caleb Schubert #12, Joshua Arceneaux Jr. #13, Wyatt Ricouard #23, Brock Bergeron #26 and Brody Grueninger #43. These boys came together and not only played with skill but put all of their heart and soul into these games. This team will be playing in the 8U World Series held in Gulfport, Mississippi in the near future.
This 8U St. Bernard All-star team would like to thank everyone who has stepped up and assisted them with their success. They would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for all of the support, both moral and financial, to all persons and companies that have assisted with their fundraisers.
