Eleven St. Bernard Firefighters attend Fire Investigation training course

The St. Bernard Parish Firefighters Association IAFF Local 1468 is pleased to congratulate eleven of its members who attended the Fire Investigator course at Louisiana State University, Fire and Emergency Training Institute in Baton Rouge, LA, from May 7-11, 2018.

This course was designed for Fire Department members who may be called to investigate fires or explosions in their jurisdiction. The use of NFPA 921, Guide for fire & explosion investigations is the accepted manual for fire investigators. Using the scientific method of fire investigations, following NFPA 921, and meeting the NFPA 1033, Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator, students are prepared to start investigating fires and explosions.

Attending the seven-day course was Randy Borne, Erwin Rome, Michael Lebeau, Michael Dragon, Earl Borden, Troy Serigne, Raul Vallecillo, Brooks Burton, Rene Martinez, Rodney Ourso, and Alan Dahmer. All are active members of the St. Bernard Parish Fire Department holding the rank of Company or Chief Officer. These dedicated members also received national certification as Fire Investigators.

The knowledge and skills these members received will help them grow as professional firefighters and make them invaluable assets to the citizens of St. Bernard Parish as they serve their community.
