St. Bernard Parish Recreation Department hosted a Track Meet at Chalmette High School.

St. Bernard Recreation Department recently hosted the first track and field meet since Hurricane Katrina. The meet was held at Chalmette High School with the help of Assistant Principal/Assistant Track Coach David Koontz and the Girls Track Coach Tanesha Sanchez. Over 150 boys and girls participated in dashes, distance runs and relay races for the track phase. Softball throws and long jumps covered the field events. Parish President Guy McInnis pulled double duty working the softball throw and presenting awards. District B Councilman Nathan Gorbaty and other park officials also participated in the awards ceremony.

The Recreation Department would like to thank the booster club members for volunteering their time and making this a successful track meet. Special thanks to Awards Unlimited for donating the trophy for the overall winner, the Kenilworth Knights.
