St. Bernard After-School Ballet Program Announces Registration for Spring 2019 Semester

The New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA) in partnership with the St. Bernard Parish School Board announces Spring 2019 registration.

Registration for the Spring 2019 semester (January 28 through May 15) of ballet classes for ages 6-18 will be held in the lobby of the Chalmette High School Cultural Arts Center. The tuition-free ballet classes will be provided twice a week (Monday and Wednesday) and will culminate with a concert featuring the students on Wednesday, May 15, 7:00 p.m. at the Chalmette High School Cultural Arts Center.

Registration will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Chalmette High School Cultural Arts Center (2600 Palmisano Blvd., Chalmette, LA 70043)

Created in 1995, the after-school ballet program has been supported since its inception by Chalmette Refining, LLC with additional support by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs, St. Tammany Parish Government. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Art Works.

NOBA’s nationally award-winning education programs have provided more than 55,000 tuition-free dance classes to more than 22,000 participants. The after-school programs are designed to cultivate a child’s appreciation for the arts, while building life skills, including self-esteem, discipline, confidence, and teamwork that speak to the child’s individual growth. Through multiple partnerships in three parishes, NOBA annually offers more than 5,000 tuition-free classes, performances, and workshops to participants of all ages.
