St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office searching for a suspect in a rash of vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating and identifying a suspect who is wanted in connection with several automobile burglaries and automobile thefts which took place in the early morning hours of April 22 in Chalmette and Meraux.

On April 22, several vehicles were burglarized and items were taken between 4 and 6 a.m.

The suspect is a black male, between 5’10” and 6’ tall with a slender build.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity, his whereabouts or further information regarding this incident is asked to call the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501 or Crimestoppers GNO at (504) 822-1111. Tipsters who call Crimestoppers can remain anonymous, do not have to testify and could be eligible for a cash reward.

The suspect is believed to be involved in a stolen vehicle ring that detectives are currently investigating along with the New Orleans Police Department.

A 15-year-old juvenile involved in the case was arrested April 22 at approximately 10 a.m. by NOPD after he crashed a stolen grey 2007 Chevrolet Silverado into a McDonald’s on the I-10 service road and Read Boulevard in eastern New Orleans.

An arrest warrant has been issued for another juvenile believed to be involved in the case.
