Lynn Rose Schneida

Lynn Rose (Devlin) Schneida, age 76, passed away surrounded by her family on September 15, 2019. She was born on July 1, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Charles Henry, Jr. and Elaine Arthemise (Suehring) Devlin. Lynn attended Holy Trinity School (1956) and Academy of the Holy Angels (1960). Lynn went on to graduate from Loyola University (1964) with a degree in Medical Technology. On July 24, 1965, she married Anton Andrew (Butch) Schneida, Jr. Together they had three children and five grandchildren.

Lynn was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and her dogs. Lynn used her degree to work as a medical technologist at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans. Lynn took time off from her career to raise her children. In that time, she also worked at Our Lady of Prompt Succor School in Chalmette to be near her children. Once her children were older, Lynn went back to her chosen career to work as a medical technologist at the Medical Center of East New Orleans (MCENO).

Lynn finished her career at Chalmette Medical Center where she retired as a laboratory manager. Lynn and Butch retired to their beautiful property in Perkinston, Mississippi. They enjoyed quiet mornings on the back porch overlooking their pond surrounded by their dogs, ducks, and other animals on the property. Four years ago, Lynn and Butch once again returned to Chalmette to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Butch; children, Robert (Bob), Michael (Mike), and Elaine (Lainie); five granddaughters, Lauren, Amy, Mikayla, Ashlyn, and Ella.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Lynn touched are invited to a memorial gathering at the Jackson Barracks Museum and Recreation Center, 6400 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans, from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2019, to reminisce and celebrate Lynn’s life.
