Nungesser named to leadership of National Lieutenant Governors Association

Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser is serving on the leadership committee for the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA).  NLGA is a professional association providing research and training to the officeholders first in line of succession to governor in all 50 states and the U.S. territories.

Nungesser is serving as South Region Chair of the NLGA Executive Committee. “His peers find Lt. Governor Nungesser to be an engaged leader who works across party and state lines to develop and share ideas from emergency management to tourism,” said NLGA Chair Rhode Island Lt. Governor Dan McKee.

“It is an honor to receive this appointment from Lt. Gov. McKee and the entire NLGA leadership team,” said Nungesser. “I look forward to working with the rest of the leadership to do the best job possible while creating networks with other seconds-in-command as well as conducting trade missions to other countries around the world and putting forth various initiatives throughout the country for the betterment of our constituents.”

Lt. Governor Nungesser will serve through July 28, 2017, at which time he is eligible for re-appointment.

The committee meets about three times a year and is responsible for charting the course of issues and training to be pursued by the nation’s second-highest state officeholders.  In addition to its specific duties, the committee will also address issues of mutual concern to all members.

Lt. Governor Nungesser was elected to office in 2015. His accomplishments include: creating an ambassador program to promote Louisiana through social media networks from residents and visitors using #OnlyLouisiana; international trade missions to Canada and France as well as championing two new international flights to London via British Airways and to Frankfurt via Condor Airlines; and the response to the statewide historic floods in 2016 throughout Louisiana while leading volunteer and donation efforts during and following the disasters.
