Nunez Community College is again offering its Industrial Technology (PTEC) Fast Track program. Fast Track is designed for those with an associate’s degree or higher to be able to attain an Associate of Applied Science degree in Industrial Technology (PTEC) in just 16 weeks. PTEC is a high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand profession with average starting salaries of $50,000 and above. Most positions involve working onsite in manufacturing or processing facilities.

Applications are currently being accepted and the priority deadline to apply is August 1. Classes begin on August 21. Interested applicants can start the application process by applying to Nunez Community College at www.nunez.edu.

“This program creates opportunity for people who are seeking not just a job, but a career,” said Tommy Warner, chancellor of Nunez Community College. “In partnership with St. Bernard Parish Government, we are able to support the development of a local skilled workforce,” he continued.

Eligible Louisiana residents may qualify for free or reduced tuition through grant funding offered by St. Bernard Parish Government. The PTEC Fast Track program is funded with HUD Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery funds via the Louisiana Division of Administration, Office of Community Development, Disaster Recovery Unit.

“This type of partnership between our parish and our local community college allows us to invest directly in our citizens. The PTEC Fast Track program at Nunez helps individuals to support themselves and their families and ensures that companies can hire local residents for jobs in industry,” said Guy McInnis, St. Bernard Parish president.

Fast Track classes are held from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The semester is broken into four mini-sessions of four weeks each. Tuition is approximately $7,000.00, not inclusive of books and mandatory fees, for those not receiving financial assistance.
