Chalmette Refining LLC will once again fund the Summer Partners Program through a grant from PBF Energy for the upcoming summer months.
This project will provide an opportunity for twelve (12) students to participate in meaningful work experience opportunities, as well as relevant workshops such as career exploration, financial literacy, and work ethics. The goals of the project are three-fold: 1) prepare young people for the workforce; 2) encourage further education and learning; and 3) instill leadership skills.
The program is open to youth between the ages of sixteen and nineteen and will run for six weeks beginning on June 11th. The youth are paid a salary for twenty-eight (28) hours of work, along with a stipend for attending the weekly workshops.
This is a cooperative endeavor with Nunez Community College, St. Bernard School System, St. Bernard Parish Government and the St. Bernard Business & Career Solutions Center.

Chalmette Refining LLC has funded this project for the past twenty-three years in partnership with the St. Bernard Business & Career Solutions Center resulting in over a one million dollar investment in the youth of St. Bernard Parish. The program has provided an opportunity for over 500 students to participate in valuable employment and educational experiences.
The program is administered by the First Planning District Workforce Development Board that oversees federal workforce and training grants for Plaquemines, St. Bernard and St. Tammany parishes.
