St. Bernard Port Provides Space For Entergy Following Hurricane Zeta

The St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District provided staging space for crews with Entergy New Orleans while they were in town to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Zeta.

Port Executive Director Drew Heaphy said nearly 500 trucks manned by more than 600 employees used space at the Chalmette Terminal while they worked to restore power to a significant portion of the parish.

“We all should be very thankful for the work done by these Entergy crews,” Heaphy said. “They worked tirelessly, around the clock to get everything up and running.”

Hurricane Zeta packed a brutal punch when it made a direct hit on the New Orleans area on Oct. 28, causing widespread damage and power outages in St. Bernard Parish.

Heaphy said crews continued to use the Port as a staging area until power was restored to the entire parish.
