Fight Like A Warrior (FLAW), a local 501(C)(3) charitable organization dedicated to assisting those affected by cancer in our local area, is excited to announce its annual fundraising gala. The event will take place on May 4, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the picturesque Docville Farm, located at 5124 E. Saint Bernard Hwy, Violet, LA 70092.
This gala aims to gather support from the community and beyond to help further FLAW’s mission of providing financial assistance, fostering cancer awareness and education, offering mentorship to survivors and their families, and actively contributing to research and advocacy efforts aimed at finding a cure.
“We are thrilled to invite our community to join us for an evening of hope and fun,” said Founder/Director Taysha Gibbs of Fight Like a Warrior Foundation, a resident of Arabi, LA. “So many of us are affected by cancer, and together, we can truly make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Being diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) almost four years ago, I have witnessed the challenges faced by both men and women undergoing cancer treatment. I realized the urgent need for a local nonprofit organization that offers comprehensive support, regardless of the type of cancer diagnosis. It is my fervent hope that through our efforts, we can alleviate some of the hardships cancer survivors face and expand our reach to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those battling cancer.”
The gala will feature entertainment from DJ Mafia, delicious food by Chef Doug Braselman, owner and chef of Meme’s Bar & Grille, and tasty dishes from Street Eats, LLC. Food Truck, and Raymond Harris, both residents of St. Bernard Parish. There will also be a silent auction with items generously donated by local businesses and supporters. Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with fellow philanthropists, cancer survivors, and advocates, all united in the fight against cancer.
