Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Mausoleum at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens

St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens, a Dignity Memorial® provider, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 16 for its new 384-casket space Devotion Mausoleum. The addition will help accommodate the growing number of families St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home serves at its 701 W. Virtue Street location in Chalmette.

St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rhett Pritchard attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside St. Bernard Parish Assessor Jaylynn Bergeron Turner and Maegen Kelley, assistant to St. Bernard Parish President Louis Pomes.

“We were thrilled to have our community partners join us to celebrate the completion of this project,” said St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home General Manager Allen Dufour. “We’ve always worked closely with each of our families to accommodate their wishes, and this new facility will allow us to provide more options for more people.”

Service Corporation International (SCI), the owner of seven Dignity Memorial funeral homes and cemeteries in the greater New Orleans region, invested $1.1 million to build the new mausoleum on St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home’s Chalmette property. A mere 20 acres in size, St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home averages 275 funeral services per year and serves families of all beliefs and faith backgrounds.

St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens serves as the final resting place for the close-knit, family-oriented communities of St. Bernard Parish.
