Los Islenos Heritage and Cultural Society will celebrate its annual Christmas Extravaganza Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 on the grounds of Los Islenos Museum Complex, 1345 – 1357 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA. The Christmas program began in 1992 and has continued to evolve under the leadership of Chairperson Kathy Serpas Ziegler and her ever supportive family. All structures and the grounds comprising the Museum Complex are decorated for the Holiday Season with Christmas lights, garlands and other festive appointments.
“Los Islenos Museum Complex looks wonderful with houses, trees and grounds illuminated with Christmas lights” said Rhonda Hannan, society president. “Los Islenos Society wants to do something special for St. Bernard residents during the Holiday Season” said Christmas committee chairperson Kathy Ziegler. “The museum complex is more than a historic site/tourism resource – it is a vital part of a living community” said Katie Tommaseo, St. Bernard Parish Tourist Department.
All buildings will be opened to the public during the Christmas program. Society charter member Anthony A. Fernandez, Jr. will host the ever-popular hayride during the event. Jerry Estopinal will build and ignite a traditional bonfire.
Charles R. Cassar, St. Bernard Parish School Board, has coordinated the participation of St. Bernard schools performing Christmas music and carols during the event.
Refreshments including cider, hot chocolate and cookies will be served during the event. Hot dogs and chili will be available for sale.
Los Islenos Christmas Extravaganza is supported by St. Bernard Parish Government, St. Bernard Parish School Board, St. Bernard Parish Tourist Commission, St. Bernard Parish Tourism Department and the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Department
