Posting the fastest time in the 200 Freestyle Relay of any school, in any division in the state and a new Division II State Record, Cabrini High School’s Swim team made its mark at the 2017 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) State Swim meet. The Crescents left the meet in Sulphur with 5 State Champions, five All State Swimmers, seven new school records, and a fifth in a highly competitive field of 21 teams.
Gabriella O’Neil’20 (St. Bernard) earned individual State Championship honors in two events: the 200 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke. While the Relay teams of Madisyn England’19 (Jefferson), Sarah Keith’19 (Orleans), Kathryn Mipro’19 (Jefferson), Gabriella O’Neil, and Catherine Wellborn’18 (Jefferson) took home State Championship crowns in the 200 Freestyle and Madisyn England, Sarah Keith, Kathryn Mipro, Gabriella O’Neil, in the 400 Freestyle.
O’Neil, England, Keith, Mipro, and Wellborn were named All Sate Swimmers.
New school records were set by Gabriella O’Neil in the 200 Free with a time of 1:56.94, Kathryn Mipro in the 50 Free with 24.74, Sarah Keith in the 100 Butterfly with 1.04.90, Kathryn Mipro’s 54.27 in the 100 Free, Gabriella O’Neil’s 1:08.32 in the 100 Breaststroke, and the 200 Freestyle Relay team’s 1:40.99 and 400 Relay team’s 3.43.53.
