Mary Joyce Wattigny (Nenie) went to be with The Lord on December 5, 2016 at 2:20 p.m. She passed peacefully surrounded by family. Mary Joyce was born in New Orleans, La. on August 28, 1927 to the late Eugene Anthony Wattigny and Pauline Gleber Wattigny. She was preceded in death by her sister, Audrey W. Gowland, brother- in- law, Robert M. Gowland Sr., and niece, June Gowland.
Mary Joyce is survived by one nephew, Robert M. Gowland, Jr. (Kathy), and two nieces, Judy G. Hawkins (Robert) and Jean G. Hummel (Steve). She is also survived by ten great nieces and nephews.
Mary Joyce was a dedicated Caretaker of her mother for many years. She was a former parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church in Chalmette, LA and was a member of AARP #1765.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
